April Update

Reaching Here

Dear friends,

I remember Art Wilson preaching once, about life being much like a top. As you toss it out and the string unwinds it goes faster as you get to the end of the string. I must be at the end of my string because my head seems to be spinning, but praise the Lord we still have the privilege to spin for Him. Amen!  I am excited to say that God is blessing at Rose Rock Baptist Church. We continue to see visitors and find new prospects on visitation.

I asked you to pray for a couple of families last letter and am happy to say God has answered prayer in both families. The first couple I asked you to pray for was Gary and Britney. They have been faithful to every service and recently began to come out on visitation. We baptized both of them on Resurrection Sunday. I also asked you to pray for Toby and Kimberly for salvation. One month ago, between Sunday School and church, I was able to go through the Gospel with them and they accepted the Lord. We baptized them on Resurrection Sunday also. In all, we baptized 5 that Sunday. What a way to celebrate Resurrection Sunday! Let me give you a couple new names we would appreciate you praying for. Sherrie is a 62-year-old lady that has been coming ever since we started. She decided she was going to get in church when she retired and totally get involved. She is doing good. She is a very sweet person and has her son and his daughters coming with her. She just told me something that is bothering her. She has been living with a man now for 23 years and she knows it keeps her from joining the church. Please pray that with God’s help we can get this problem solved.

On the building front, we have been able to close on our building and have begun to move walls and enlarge our auditorium. We have a little work to do so we can add some new class rooms as well. It was exciting to see 5 men out on Monday, helping to get this work done.  It also exciting to have one of our new men come and ask if he can take care of the yard. I’m sorry, but we didn’t even pray about it. We just said YES!

I have been able to present our ministry a couple of times recently and am excited to have two new supporting churches. We had not made raising support that important for the first couple of years as we were trying to see seeds planted in our own sending church as well as in areas around Oklahoma City. We feel like now we can show that God is definitely in what we are doing, and we want to encourage other churches to get involved.

Thank you for your prayers and support. I will be sending pictures of our building as it is transformed.

For the Souls of Men,

Bro. Rick Carter Sr.
